This vintage Waterford crystal decanter was made in Ireland in the company's perenially popular Lismore pattern. The body features a series of deep diamond cut wedges which encircle the base and give way to vertical leaf-like cuts that rise 3/4 of the way up the sides. The decanter's long and narrow neck is finished with 8 paneled sides which give way to a cup shaped mouth. The piece is topped by a large faceted stopper with a flat top.
The decanter is in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. That said, it should be noted that there are minor production related anomalies including a small raised rectangular area on the mouth of the decanter. The stopper itself shows minor signs of age consisting of slight wear at the edges and has a small mark at the end of one ray which appears to be related to the production process. As seen in the accompanying photographs, these slight issues do not affect the appearance or functionality of the piece and are mentioned for accuracy.
The decanter stands 13" tall from the tabletop to the top edge of the stopper. The base is 4.125" in diameter and bears the acid etched arched gothic style "Waterford" mark that predates the Seahorse mark introduced in 1999. The decanter is a substantial piece and weighs in at 3lbs 6oz. The decanter has been well cared for and is clean and clear on the inside.
This elegant crystal decanter displays beautifully and would be a great addition to a home bar. A very pretty and useful piece!
