Private unpublished manuscript, commissioned by a Treasure hunting and archaeological company; Historical Background to the archaeological report concerning remains of 2 Spanish Galeons, Conception and Margarita wrecked in Northern Marianas, first half of 17th century. This is earlier material than volume 2.
Discusses historical background,, has a map of world silver flows 1600-1650, Spanish development ofManila, which allowed Spain to compete with Portugal in the China trade. Has historic chronicals; One of the West Indies,, an early voyage round the world, a Friar's account of the Marianas,. Has drawings and maps showing routes, Tinian,, an account of the Phillipine Islands, an account of a ship's voyage from Luzon to China in the 18th century. Contains a wealth of information not found elsewhere. I was a friend of a prominant marine archaeologist, and taking an archaeology course from him in the 1980's. When he passed on,the University gave me his file cabinet.
