Jerry Heer's Mint condition Red / Orange / Yellow Leaf & Vine Paperweight from the Lotton Studio dates from 1998. Jerry is Charles' nephew and began assisting his uncle Charles Lotton in 1988. Over the years, Jerry developed his skills and was blowing glass full time by 1996. He left the studios several years ago, and is known for his Leaf & Vine designed paperweights, perfume bottles and several signature floral designs which are seen in small vases and perfume bottles.
According to Jerry, as quoted in Lotton Glass: The Legacy p. 209, "The colors are what stand out... they catch your eyes. The colors are crisp and clear. With their own formulas, the Lottons make many colors which the artists can layer. Some collectors are attracted by the immense size and weight, which require extreme skill. Others are captivated by the shapes and designs. People love the beauty of the glass. They recognize the pride and craftsmanship involved in making such complex pieces."
Paperweights are hot collectibles— also useful, and perfect gifts even if you no longer "use" much paper. Nothing digital about them.
This paperweight is about 2 inches high and 3 inches wide. It weighs about a pound.
