This set of vintage Hubley bookends is made of cast iron with a bronze finish. They were made in the mid 1920's and are titled 'Scotty and Terrier friends'. An example of this pair can be seen in Kuritzky and De Costa's Bookend Encyclopedia where they are given a rarity rating of 5 on a 6 point scale. This attractive design shows the head and chest of a scotty and an airedale terrier standing next to each other. It has the fine detail typical of Hubley's workmanship. There is a little wear to the finish but overall this set has aged beautifully.
