Cast iron flower form bookends marked LvL - image 1 of 16

This set of flower form cast iron bookends are marked 'LVL' and 'pat pend' on the backs. LVL stands for artist Lulu Verhoren Lavell. Lavell founded Minneapolis, Minnesota Candlestick Co. in around 1920. She went on to design several cast iron pieces, like these attractive bookends, through out the 1920's. Her designs were sold via the candle company and usually bear her LVL mark. These bookends have there original paint. The paint has some wear and chips but is in good condition overall. This set of approximately 100 year old bookends would be a nice decorative element on a shelf or mantel wether being used to hold books or files or simply as an eyecatching decoration.
