The Palmoxylon fossil specimens are from the Oligocene epoch (34-23 million years ago). They are fossilized palm trees that grew when the Gulf of Mexico was much farther north of its present-day position.
Petrified palm wood includes a group of fossil woods that contain prominent rod-like structures within the regular grain of the silicified wood. It's a favorite of rock collectors and jewelry makers because it comes in a variety of beautiful colors.
Petrified Palm Wood is thought to be a powerful grounding and stabilizing stone of support and protection.
