From the Cape Ann School, this wharf and sailboat watercolor is reminiscent of another Ira J. Haskel Cape Ann work that sold at Skinner Auction in 2017. Haskell (b. 1883 - d. 1966) has work included in the Thomas J. Watson Library of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and is a descendant of the Salem, MA community pre-dating the witch trials, as well as an original Mayflower passenger (Patricia Soule). A family steeped in New England history, whose name is alternately spelled Haskel and Haskell (including the artist himself). Measuring 14.5" x 20" unframed, this rich watercolor is in excellent condition and will be shipped via tube.
