This fine antique George III English solid silver meat skewer / letter opener*, in sterling standard, has a tapered form with a circular ring loop finger piece.
The surface of this fine example of Georgian silverware is plain and unembellished, apart from the featured hallmarks to the reverse. Please see image 5 for reference.
This exceptional Georgian meat skewer was crafted by the renowned York silversmiths Robert Cattle and James Barber.
* The original use of this item was purely as a meat skewer. Due to its form, this piece may certainly be used as an effective letter opener.
Condition
This antique solid silver meat skewer is a superior gauge of silver for its type, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of the skewer are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.
