Antique 19thC Intaglio Glass Paperweight, Sleeping Cherub, Baby

An Antique (circa late 1800s) Intaglio Glass Paperweight of a sleeping Cherub or Baby. The Paperweight has the design in back of the glass so it gives a dimensional effect. Overall dimensions are 4 7/8" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/4" high, it is really heavy for the size. Paperweights were important desk articles during the Victorian, Edwardian era when fans were used for cooling, you did not want your papers to blow around so a paperweight was used. As with most items in the Victorian era they became decorative as well as functional such as this fine example.
