Cast Iron Cat Bank Kitty with Red Bow Still Penny John Wright Grey Iron Casting Co - image 1 of 8

This charming vintage kitty cat still or penny bank is made of cast iron and has its original paint in three colors, white, black and red on the cute little bow. It also has an interesting history - It is attributed to John Wright, who purchased the product line of the Wrightsville Hardware Company in the early 1960s. Local to Wrightsville, PA, of course, this hardware company also owned the Grey Iron Casting Company in Mount Joy, PA at the time, which is where this bank was cast. In the late 1960s, the Grey Iron Casting Company was sold to the Donsco Corporation and it actually burned down (arson) in 1979. So, this bank only had a rather short production time at the Grey Iron foundry. Some neat local history for the next owner of the bank!

It has a flat base and is made of two halves held together with a screw. It has the coin slot on the back of its head and is in very good condition with no damage and light wear/loss to the paint, but truly most of the original paint remains intact and the red is nice and vibrant. Its a bit over 4 & 1/4 inches high and is about 3 inches wide. A wonderful addition to a still bank collection or to a cat collection - and yes, its empty (sorry, no coins inside...).
