Midcentury Brass Cricket Box - image 1 of 10

Keeping pet crickets in boxes first became popular in China in the 900s AD. Crickets were thought to bring good luck. Then in the 1970s brass cricket boxes became popular again. This is an example of a cricket box import with stones medallions on all sides except the bottom. Today the boxes are used to store jewelry or just as an accent on a table or desk. The box is rectangular measuring 4 ½ by 3 ¼ and standing 2 5/8 inches tall. A lovely vintage brass b box.
