This silver mesh purse is redolent of the fashion accessories of the first half of the 20th century – possibly even of the Flapper age. It consists of a moderate sized mesh container (which has never had decorative beads at the bottom). It has a plain silver frame and integral long narrow link silver chain. Near the clip of the purse are two crown marks, and each of the links has a lion couchant. This would suggest that the piece is sterling silver of Sheffield, England production. The overall condition is very good for age with possibly a very small number of missing links, but these are only apparent on close inspection. This would be a charming item to carry when wearing an early vintage outfit or to include amongst a collection of stylish purses.
Clasp to bottom 5 ins (12.7cm). Width of frame 5.1 ins (13cm). Weight 170 grams.
Insured Air Mail Post with tracking to the USA would be $28.00 USD - with no tracking is cheaper. For shipping cost to other countries, please contact us.
